About the artist

Marc Hackworthy, an artist and piano technician based in Somerset, brings a unique blend of expertise to his craft. Graduating from the esteemed Newark Piano School, he has honed his skills over a decade of work as a piano tuner and technician. His sculptures are deeply rooted in his passion for the instrument and the historical significance of its materials. Participating in the Played & Remade project, Marc gives new purpose to unfixable pianos by transforming them into his distinctive sculptures, reminiscent of taxidermy animals. Leveraging his extensive knowledge of piano parts and his appreciation for the materials, he breathes new life into broken pianos with each piece he creates.
