Clare Burnett

Clare Burnett, an artist we are proud to collaborate with at Played & Remade, divides her time between London and her studio in Berlin. With a multicultural upbringing in France and Belgium, Clare brings a unique perspective to her work. She studied Architecture and Social/Political Studies at Cambridge University before pursuing Fine Art at the Byam Shaw School of Art.

Clare’s vibrant sculptures are deeply influenced by the objects, spaces, and societal issues that surround her. She employs a diverse range of materials and techniques—both traditional and digital—to craft her pieces. Clare has a talent for scavenging materials from her environment, which she then transforms in her studio. Recently, her work has explored themes such as looted objects from the 19th century and the increasing presence of surveillance systems in modern life.

One of her notable series, "Chromatic Variations," repurposes old grand piano legs, adorned with recycled materials. The colors she uses are sourced from leftover paint from our painted piano projects, adding a layer of history and sustainability to her work.

Clare’s connection to music, though indirect, runs deep. While she is not a musician herself, she is married to Sandy Burnett, a musician, and their home is filled with music and instruments. This makes her involvement in Played & Remade especially meaningful.
